Do You Celebrate Valentine’s Day Contest

I have to confess… Valentine’s Day is just another day for me and Mr. Book Reviews & More by Kathy. I know, I know, that makes us sound like the most unromantic couple on the face of the earth, doesn’t it? Now y’all know I love romance, otherwise I would not read and review so many romance novels ;-), but we all know that real life and romance novels are vastly… different.

How did Valentine’s Day lose its romantic glow for me and Mr. Book Reviews & More by Kathy? Necessity. Mr. Book Reviews & More by Kathy is in the Air Force and he spends a lot of time deployed. We have not spent a Valentine’s Day together since 2008, and we won’t be together this year either :(. Now we do exchange Valentine’s Day cards (well, except last year but there were extenuating circumstances). No flowers, no special romantic dinners, no gifts, no extra pressure to have sex just because it’s VALENTINE’S DAY!

We do not need a special day to celebrate our love. Instead, we appreciate the little day to day gestures that express our love for one another. Mr. Book Reviews & More by Kathy surprises me with a bouquet of flowers out of the blue. We sneak away on romantic getaways every once in a while. We celebrate our love every day, not just on February 14th.

Now it’s your turn. Do you celebrate Valentine’s Day?

I am giving away one copy of each of the following books:

Title: Building Sandcastles by Carol Lynne
Publisher: OmniLit / All Romance eBooks, LLC
Genre: M/M, Contemporary, Erotic, Romance
Word Count: 13,773

Summary:

After a brush with death, he begins to live…

After a mugging and near death experience, Leo Gorgan realizes the only thing he has in New York City is business contacts. He decides to take a year off and travel the country. When a needed repair on his motorhome lands him in Destiny, Iowa, Leo has no idea the ruggedly handsome man at the hardware store will be able to fix more than his leaky faucet.

William “Tank” Borsoiv loves his life. The farm he owns is enough to feed his soul, but not enough to make ends meet. Working at the hardware store has always bridged the gap financially, but it also allows Tank to interact with the townspeople. When a stranger with dark red hair enters the store, Tank’s body takes notice.

Tank knows Leo has a life in New York he’ll eventually go back to, but he won’t let that stop him from entering into the hottest relationship he’s ever experienced. Loving Leo may come with a price, but Tank will gladly pay the debt.

Title: Tripp in Love by Tressie Lockwood
Publisher: OmniLit / All Romance eBooks, LLC
Genre: Contemporary, Erotic, Romance
Word Count: 18,247

Summary:

No strings attached sex with a hot smalltown cop? Yeah, her heart was in serious danger…

Toya is on the way to a funeral when she’s pulled over by the sexiest cop she’s ever laid eyes on. When she discovers she doesn’t have her wallet with her license in it, she decides it’s time to use her feminine charms to get out of being hauled off to jail. The super short skirt and the f*me high-heeled boots should do the trick, but this cop doesn’t seem impressed in the least.

Tripp is finding it hard to remain detached and professional while doing his job looking at the chocolate beauty he’s just pulled over. And when he discovers she’s driving without a license, procedure dictates he asks her to step out of the car. With a body he’d like to sample right there on the side of the road, this woman forces him to make her a proposition that has nothing to do with the law—no strings attached sex, all weekend long. But what will he do when it’s time for Toya to leave his small town and go back to New York?

Our Valentine’s Day celebration has changed over the years. In the early years of our marriage, we did the flowers, chocolate, and dinner thing. Then 5 boys, several jobs, and several moves later things scaled down…..Now it is a competition. Yes, you heard right….a competition. We don’t celebrate until the 15th, when everything is on sale. Then we see who can get the best deal (I love the chocolates). The winner chooses the evenings “entertainment”. I tend to lose …..alot. *wink wink*

Do we celebrate? Sometimes. Nothing big really. A card or a small gift. Over the years we’ve done the out to dinner and endured the crowds at our favorite restaurant. I like it better when we can go there and not feel rushed or crowded. Lately we go away before or after the 14th. I don’t force it on him to do something because it really isn’t necessary.

We do not celebrate Valentine’s Day and don’t really do anything special. It is still a relatively new trend here and of course the shops are cashing in on the celebration. For us, we feel that everyday should be a celebration of love, not just a designated day!
I would love to have Tripp in Love if I win.
    Thanks for the giveaway.

We do the same thing Kathy. When we first got together, we got each other little things, but as the years passed on, we’ve just celebrated or more took It as another day of the year. I don’t need material things for someone to show me they love me, when It’s clearly seen In their actions and what they say each and every day. That alone means more to me then any material thing ever could.

I hope all of you have a wonderful Valentine’s Day with your loved ones! ♥

I’d love the chance to win Building Sandcastles. Sounds like a truly wonderful book!

Thank you for another great giveaway! 😀

Actually, I agree with you, Kathy. My hubby and I try to make every day special, and always say I love you before we go to bed every night. We will celebrate the day with pizza and a rented movie. Tonight’s selection will be Cowboys and Aliens. So I get to look forward to some quality snuggle time, and maybe a bowl of popcorn. Sounds just perfect to me.

I would love to read Carol’s, Building Sandcastles.

I agree with you. Its just another day to me. I have never really been a fan of the day. Like you I think its all the little things and gestures throughout the year that counts not just on this day.

  9. Tiss

We didn’t celebrate this year. I did get a box of candy, that I watched him pick out. We didn’t go out to eat, as I got home too late, but for the most part, no we don’t usually celebrate. He’s not a card buyer for any occassion either.
I had put a bug in his ear about a piece of jewerly I had wanted, but I don’t see that either, so whatever. As you said, just another day.

It’s the little thing that we do for each other during the year that count for hubby and I. We don’t really celebrate Valentine’s Day. Hubby might pick a flower from our garden or make me the best cup of coffee in the morning:-)

I don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day but I gave my supervisor a hard time for not getting his wife or daughter anything! I, too, feel love should be shared every day.
