It’s a Blog Hop: The Romance Reviews GLBT Madness Hop & Contest for Rick R. Reed’s Chaser

If you are a fan of GLBT romances then you won’t want to miss The Romance Reviews GLBT Blog Madness Hop that begins September 27, 12:00am EST and ends September 30, 11:59pm EST. Over 40 blogs are participating in this fabulous showcase of GLBT authors and their romances.

The author I would like to spotlight for you is one of my favorite authors, Rick R. Reed. He is an incredibly versatile author who has published novels in many different genres. Whether he is writing romances or mysteries, his writing style is quite engaging and his characters are always well developed. Here are my thoughts on his latest release, Chaser.

Title: Chaser by Rick R. Reed
Publisher: Dreamspinner Press
Genre: M/M, Contemporary, Erotic, Romance
Length: 224 pages

Caden DeSarro is what they call a chubby chaser. He likes his guys with a few extra pounds on them. So when he meets Kevin Dodge in a bar bathroom, he can’t help but stare, even if he does make an ass of himself. As far as Caden is concerned, Kevin is physically perfect: a stocky bearded blond with a dick that’s just right. (They met in the bathroom—of course he looked!) But Caden gets tongue-tied and misses his chance.

When Caden runs into Kevin one night on the El train, he figures it’s fate offering him a second shot. Caden manages to get invited back to Kevin’s place for a one-night stand that turns into the kind of relationship he’s dreamed about.

But the course of true love never did run smooth, and Kevin and Caden’s romance is no exception. When Caden returns from a few weeks away on business, Kevin surprises him with a new and “improved” body—one that fits Caden’s shallow friend Bobby’s ideal, not Caden’s. Caden doesn’t know what to do, and his hesitation is just the opportunity Bobby was looking for. This isn’t the same Kevin he fell in love with… is it?

My Thoughts:

What attracts us to someone? Is it physical appearance? Or the person on the inside? That is pretty much the crux of Chaser.

Caden DeSarro is attracted to guys with a little extra weight and Kevin Dodge is exactly what he is looking for in a man. Their romance has barely begun when Caden has to leave town for six weeks due a family emergency. When he returns, Caden is stunned to discover that Kevin has undergone a physical transformation from deliciously chubby to fit and trim. Now Caden must decide if Kevin is still the man for him.

Chaser is an absolutely fabulous story with a unique storyline. It is a thought-provoking novel about body image-our perceptions not just of ourselves but the people we are attracted to. The characters are ordinary, but that is what makes them so appealing. There is internal conflict with Caden struggling to figure out if the new Keven is the man for him. There is external conflict in the form of a scheming and manipulative “friend”. Ultimately, it is a sweet yet sexy romance that I highly recommend.

  6. Sounds promising. I always love the stories where there’s imperfections and the characters have to make a choice if what matters is what’s inside or what’s outside. Being not so perfect myself, it rings a bell for me. Thanks for participating in the hop.
