Blog Tour Stop, Guest Post & Contest: King Cobra by Jayne Rylon

Tell us about this series and how it came to be?

When I was writing Powertools I had a pretty good idea by the beginning of book five, Nailed to the Wall, where the series would end up. But, honestly, I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to the crew and their open-minded nature. So when the idea of Joe visiting his wild cousin and friends for an ice fishing trip popped into my mind, I ran with it.

By the time Eli and Alanso made a cameo appearance in Hammer it Home, I was sure I wanted to try something similar that would allow me to revisit the crew but also add a new layer to the series. In Powertools, the five guys start out the beginning of Kate’s Crew with a bond and active sexual relationship between them. I felt like in Hot Rods I wanted to explore more of how an arrangement like that would come to be.

So buckle up because Hot Rods is full of angst as the seven mechanics with tortured pasts, learn how to express their love for their friends and the partners they meet along the way. This series came to me all at once. In part thanks to the amazing images of Sophia Renee at Unique Portraiture. I saw them on Facebook one night and I knew who each of the characters were, their back story and who they’re going to end up with. So I wrote it all down and showed it to my editor, Amy Sherwood, who was thankfully on board. As an amazing bonus, Samhain Publishing was awesome enough to negotiate with Sophia and the actual inspiration images I used for the series are appearing on the cover of the books. This is especially awesome as Eli from King Cobra is Sophia’s boyfriend. How lucky is she? Cover artist Angie Waters has done an amazing job of incorporating the images into drool worthy covers!

Now it’s just a matter of getting these stories our of my imagination and down on paper. At the time of writing this both King Cobra and Mustang Sally are complete. I’ll be tackling the remaining four stories planned for the series at this time over the summer now that I’m a full time author (OMG & YEY!). I hope that readers enjoy the Hot Rods as much as I have.

Title: King Cobra by Jayne Rylon
Hot Rods Series Book One
Publisher: Samhain Publishing, Ltd
Genre: Contemporary, Romance, Red Hots!!, Ménage & More
Length: Category

Summary:

Nothing’s sexier than seven men with hot rods.

Hot Rods, Book 1

After Eli’s mother died, his father honored her life’s mission as a social worker by taking in several kids from the wrong side of the tracks. Not all of them stuck, but those who did became Eli’s quasi family.

Their bonds, forged in fires set by their personal demons, are unbreakable—or so Eli wants to believe. Especially since he and Alanso, his best friend and head mechanic, witnessed the overpowering allure of polyamory while visiting the Powertools crew.

Much as Eli would like to deepen the relationships among his foster brothers and sister in the Hot Rods Restoration Team, he’s hesitant to risk everything on a quick romp behind a stack of tires.

But when Eli catches Alanso exploring their mutual fantasy at a known hookup spot in a public park, all bets are off. And Eli must decide if it’s time to jump in full throttle—and trust his instincts to guide him through the night. If the pair can dodge the potholes in their own relationship, maybe they can race together toward the unconventional arrangement with Mustang Sally they both desire.

  3. Meghan Stith

I have to say that the cover leads me to believe this is a ‘man’s book.’ It looks kind of like Fast and Furious. Something completely geared towards men. However, reading the blurb, it’s actually written for women. I think the cover needs some work!

I like how the cover photos match who the characters are described in the these book. A lot of other covers don’t do that.
