For today’s stop on the Reflection virtual blog tour, we are chatting with Elene Sallinger.
Kathy: What book do you recommend everyone should read? Do you have a comfort read?
Elene: Everyone should read The Reason I Jump by Naoki Higashida. I honestly believe it can make you a better person to read this book. Autism is touching more and more families, including my own, and to have a glimpse into their inner-world can only make one more compassionate. But, reading this book makes you look at judgment and presumption in general. We judge and label others routinely, this book made me take a hard look at my own propensities and my pre-conceived notions and begin to shed them.
As for a comfort read, there is one book I go back to again and again, Cover of Night by Linda Howard. The love story between Cal and Cate is just so endearing that I can’t get enough of it.
Kathy: What is your guilty pleasure?
Elene: Ice cream. I love ice cream and seriously can’t control myself when I indulge. My favorite is Breyer Mint Chocolate Chip, but that seems to be disappearing from the shelves. I’ve transitioned over to Americone Dream by Ben & Jerry’s.
Kathy: Favorite meal?
Elene: My family’s homemade ravioli filled with chicken and spinach. We come from the Abruzzi region in Italy and that is a regional recipe. Accompanying it would be cheesy garlic bread, a whiskey sour cocktail, and cannoli for dessert
Kathy: If you weren’t a writer, what would you be?
Elene: I’d run a Pit Bull Sanctuary. In fact, that’s the plan for my future in general.
Kathy: If you could time travel, what time period would you visit?
Elene: The Moorish conquest of Spain. My ancestors are descended from the Moors. When Spain was reconquered, the Moor’s migrated through Greece into Italy and my people are descended from that migration. The Moorish rule was a time of learning and culture with beautiful art and literature. I’d love to visit it.
Kathy: Thank you so much for visiting with us today. Congratulations on the new release and I must confess, I am looking forward to the next novel in the Chrysalis series (fingers crossed you’re planning at least two more books?)

Chrysalis Series Book Two

When Two Bodies Collide…
The moment Bridget Ross and Connor Reynolds run into each other on the street—quite literally while out on a run—tempers flare. But when the two get together for an apology coffee date, it’s clear that the coffee isn’t the only thing steaming.
Connor is a charming artist without purpose. His own tragic past prevents him from putting down roots or committing to anything. Bridget is feisty but guarded. She’s aching to fill a void in her life but is wracked with guilt over her past and denies herself true pleasure. Can this gorgeous man tempt Bridget to finally succumb to her desires?
