January Reading Challenge: Read the Last Book You Purchased in December

January’s Reading is to read… the last book you purchased or downloaded in December.

For me, this challenge was a lot harder than it seems like it should be! There were not a whole lot of new releases during the last week of the month, so I had to wait until the last minute to make my first selection.

The last book in December that I ended up purchasing is Watching You by Lisa Jewell. I love her mysteries and I am very eager to read her newest release.

The prospect of someone watching you without your knowledge is VERY creepy so, of course, I was immediately fascinated by the novel’s summary. The quiet neighborhood of Melville Heights is an unlikely place for so much intrigue but…. Secret crushes that turn out to be not secret. A teenager spying on his neighbors. A student who believes a teacher is hiding a dark side and she also suspects he might be a stalker.

I can’t wait to dive into the goings on in Melville Heights!

The second book I selected was a WHOLE lot harder to decide on. I purchased a handful of gay novels but none of them were striking my fancy. Then I remembered I wanted to read N.R. Walter’s Red Dirt Heart series, so I immediately put my Kindle Unlimited subscription to use!

I absolutely love cowboy romances and I am infinitely fascinated with Australia. I have also heard nothing but positive things about the series so book one, Red Dirt Heart, is now on my Kindle and ready for me to read. Plus my husband and I are going to Australia next month, so I am eager to “see” as much of the country as I can before we embark on our two week adventure!
