March’s Reading Challenge was to read a novel that was third.
I chose to read Trust, which is the third mystery in Chris Hammer’s Martin Scarsden series.
In this outing, Martin and his girlfriend Mandalay “Mandy” Blonde are back in Sydney after she is abducted by someone from her past. Mandy’s case revolves around someone she used to be involved with who vanished without a trace a few years earlier. Her situation is very interesting and very mysterious.
Martin also gets a blast from his not too distant past when he hears from Max, his former editor at the newspaper he used to work for. Martin is intrigued when Max rings him out of the blue and requests his help on something he is working on. Max doesn’t want to discuss his project on the phone, but he makes sure Martin knows just how urgently he needs his assistance.
Both cases take unexpected turns but Mandy and Martin are determined to uncover the truth.
Fast-paced with fascinating story arcs, Trust is the best installment in Chris Hammer’s Martin Scarsden series.

I read Two Rogues Make a Right by Cat Sebastien.
It is the final in the Seducing the Sedgewicks series and I liked that MCs from the other two were featured. This one focuses on Will and Martin, neither of whom have had easy lives. The impact of TB is shown and the nastier side of naval life in the 1800s.
Ultimately it is two broken guys trying to find their place in the world. Enjoyed it a lot, especially the secondary characters
I really like this series. I still have to read this one.
