Welcome to this week’s Book Talk!
I had a great week of reading!
First up: The Island by Adrian McKinty. Action-packed, page turning and plenty of suspense. I. Loved. It.
Next: Better the Blood by Michael Bennett. New Zealand police procedural that explores themes that really resonated with me. Great characters and setting. I gave it 5 stars and a week later, I’m still thinking about it.
Then I finished Tammy L. Gray’s State of Grace series. I really liked Love and Little White Lie. Again, wonderful characters, beautiful scenery and relatable storyline. The final book, Love and the Dream Come True, is a good read but it’s my least favorite of the other 2 books. Nothing I can put my finger on, but it’s just a 4 star read for me.
And to round out the week, I devoured Kia Abdullah’s Next of Kin. Difficult subject matter but fantastic courtroom scenes. Lots of tension and a twist-filled conclusion I did not see coming. I highly recommend it along with Ms. Abdullah’s other mysteries. She is a brilliant author.
I’m not mentioning what I’m reading next because I’ve become a “pick what I feel like reading” reader. I scan titles and book covers on my Kindle or bookshelves until one catches my eye and I know it’s “the one”.
Now it’s your turn. What have you been reading lately? Join the discussion by commenting below!
I’ve not had such a busy week reading!!! Start of the netball season so doing lots of admin for that each night.
No Accident at Abergwyn by Ripley Hayes – a more light and fluffy cosy, compared to the Daniel Owen series
Any Day by Brian Lancaster – a Welsh house make over with a side of romance and a deranged relative
Black & White – Ruby Moon – do like her historical
I’m glad you had the chance to read a few books you enjoyed!
Fingers crossed this week offers the same opportunity.
