Reading Challenge Discussion

April’s Reading Challenge was to read a book with a colorful cover.

I chose The Lonely Hearts Book Club by Lucy Gilmore because of its bright, colorful cover. But wow! The true vibrancy of this wonderful novel is between the pages. All of the characters are likable (yes, even irascible Arthur McLaclan) with different yet complimentery personalities. Their life experiences have shaped them and are currently holding them back from living their best lives. Once their book club is up and running, their book selections and their growing friendships assist them on their respective journeys and provide deeper understanding of their own foibles and frailties. Watching each of their transformations is incredibly emotional and so very uplifting and satisfying.
