A flashgroup is sort of a Facebook pop up shop. It’s a short-term group that will be active for the length of the Prosperity blog tour. I’ll be over there all week, and a little bit after, talking about the book, giving away many, many things, posting exclusive excerpts of Prosperity and the upcoming sequels, answering any questions, and generally having a ball.
I do hope you will pop along and be part of the conversation.
I also have postcards showcasing the absolutely stunning Prosperity artwork. If you would like one, please join the group and drop me a message, and I will be delighted to send one winging your way.
Kathy: Do you have a favorite book or author you like to recommend? Do you have a comfort read?
As you might be able to tell from my work, I have very eclectic tastes. I’d be pretty hard pressed to choose my favourite socks, let alone my favourite author.
From queer romance, I really admire KJ Charles, but at this point so does everybody else. I’m also scared I’m subconsciously xenophobic because most of my favourite queer romance authors are British. I completely adore Alex Beecroft and Harper Fox. Oh, and Ginn Hale is amazing (and thankfully American) and I also really enjoy Vanessa North and EE Ottoman.
From non-queer romance, I really enjoy Laura Kinsale, Meljean Brook, Nalini Singh, Ruthie Knox, Mary Ann Rivers and Cecilia Grant.
My major comfort read is, and always has been, Georgette Heyer – which I like to think means I’ve been a romance reader all along.
Kathy: What is your guilty pleasure?
I’m sorry if this makes me feel like an arse, but I kind of don’t believe in guilty pleasures. I think if you like something, you should like it proudly and openly. And if you’re genuinely concerned that liking it is wrong, you should stop.
I suppose you could argue that problematic texts – books or other media that racist, sexist or otherwise –ist – can be considered guilty pleasures in that they’re things you might derive pleasure from while knowing they’re detrimental to other people.
Game of Thrones, I guess, would possibly fit the bill since it’s got some serious problems with its race and gender politics, but I’ll put with a lot to see a guy in black armour cut a horse’s head off.
But, honestly, I don’t really think this is something to feel guilty about either. I think if you try to pretend problematic texts aren’t problematic then you should feel guilty as hell, but things you enjoy have value and you shouldn’t feel bad just because they’re don’t have enough social cache.
Kathy: Favorite meal?
I’m afraid, like most my countrymen, I like a good curry. I’m occasionally really confused by American TV shows where characters will go to an Indian and it’ll either be something incredibly exotic that they’ve never done before, or else they’ll show a complete inability to cope with curry of any kind. I remember being wryly amused by an episode of Sex in the City where someone uses the phrase “that was a spicy birani.”
Kathy: If you weren’t a writer, what would you be?
Well, technically I’m only a part-time writer anyway, so I suspect I’d be doing my regular job, which I actually quite enjoy and would probably want to continue doing even if being a full-time writer was an option.
Kathy: If you could time travel, what time period would you visit?
It’s tricky one. The problem with time travel is that you’d end up visiting a real historical period rather than the sexy, glamorized historical period that we find in books or see in TV. There’s lots of interesting things you could do if you could time travel, because there’s a level of historical research that just isn’t possible without it and it’d be quite cool to go back and hear what people actually sounded like before the Great Vowel Shift. But I’m very conscious that I don’t really want to live in any time apart from my own. Of course, there’s always the future but while I’m not the sort of person who makes a big thing about being pessimistic I think it’s important to remember that society changes and you can’t control the ways it changes, so the chances are the future will wind up being sufficiently different from the world I’m used that I wouldn’t really be able to get by there either. Also if you went to the future and it sucked, that would depress you for basically the rest of your life.

Author Bio
Alexis Hall was born in the early 1980s and still thinks the twenty-first century is the future. To this day, he feels cheated that he lived through a fin de siècle but inexplicably failed to drink a single glass of absinthe, dance with a single courtesan, or stay in a single garret. He can neither cook nor sing, but he can handle a seventeenth century smallsword, punts from the proper end, and knows how to hotwire a car. He lives in southeast England, with no cats and no children, and fully intends to keep it that way.
You can also find him all over the internet, on his website, Facebook, Twitter, BookLikes, and Goodreads.

GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR BOOK AND THANKS FOR THE GIVEAWAY!
For an American, my tastes run decidedly British as well, which if we go with the stereotypes and the long-tunning issues of our two nations, makes me either seem grasping or high in the instep. Oh dear, I think I’d rather be thought of as xenophobic. Of course, here we just call that being patriotic.
Aaaand before I get myself in trouble, let me just quickly say that I love Prosperity unreservedly and hope it will find its way into the hands and hearts of many people…of all nations. 😀
Just discovered the audio in that FB group. I love that you do these things for us. 🙂
Steampunk is such a great genre and the outfit shown is so cool! Thanks!
I just read a Western, Historical, Steampunk Anthology and it was Great! I’m kinda liking this Steampunk business. I especially like the idea of mixing other genres with it.
You ladies are three authors I consider to be Huge Pens so i know this book is going to be out of this world. Congratulations on this newest and I wish you all the success ya’ll deserve!
Much success to you on your new release!
