eBook Contest May 23

Here are the eBooks for this week’s Winning Wednesday contest:

Title: Ball Buster by Kara Sheridan
The Playbook Series Book One
Publisher: Forever Yours
Genre: Contemporary, Women’s Fiction, Romance
Length: 305 pages

Summary:

In Kara Sheridan’s sexy new series, these hard-hitting pro footballers don’t play by the book.

Playbook Rule #1: Never ever give up

It’s official. The Alabama Warriors have the worst reputation in pro football. As the team’s captain, Carson Savage has his ass on the line and – thanks to a leaked photo – his ass is also online. Now the team is getting an image makeover from Sadie Reynolds, the hottest redhead in the South and Carson’s high school sweetheart. Maybe making a play for his sexy ex is a risky move… but Carson didn’t make it this far by playing it safe

Alabama is the last place in the world Sadie wants to be. Going home again only reminds her of what – and who – she gave up. Seeing the insanely hot ex she never quite forgot is dangerous. Carson’s too sexy. Too tempting. And Sadie can’t afford to go out of bounds. So she’ll do whatever it takes to finish this job and leave town with her heart still intact. The only problem? Carson’s decided it’s not about winning the game… it’s about winning the girl.

Title: The Optimist’s Guide to Letting Go by Amy E. Reichert
Publisher: Gallery Books
Genre: Contemporary, Women’s Fiction
Length: 352 pages

Summary:

Three generations. Seven days. One big secret. The author of The Coincidence of Coconut Cakeunfolds a mother-daughter story told by three women whose time to reckon with a life-altering secret is running out.

Gina Zoberski wants to make it through one day without her fastidious mother, Lorraine, cataloguing all her faults, and her sullen teenage daughter, May, snubbing her. Too bad there’s no chance of that. Her relentlessly sunny disposition annoys them both, no matter how hard she tries. Instead, Gina finds order and comfort in obsessive list-making and her work at Grilled G’s, the gourmet grilled cheese food truck built by her late husband.

But when Lorraine suffers a sudden stroke, Gina stumbles upon a family secret Lorraine’s kept hidden for forty years. In the face of her mother’s failing health and her daughter’s rebellion, this optimist might find that piecing together the truth is the push she needs to let go…

Title: My Lavender Boyfriend by Marina Ford
Publisher: Less Than Three Press
Genre: Contemporary, Gay, Romance
Word Count: 70,000

Summary:

Simon Moussa is a formerly successful screenwriter who lives in London. He’s single and earns his living by teaching in film school, until an old friend, Charlie, visits one day with a strange proposition.

Nick Stone is a handsome, rich and famous actor, who hasn’t figured out how to be likeable in today’s social-networking culture. Because Simon is openly gay and has a pristine reputation, Charlie thinks that if the two were to pretend to be a couple, Nick would gain credibility, become likeable again, and Simon could use this to re-start his flailing writing career.

The plan is simple enough, and all they have to do is get along for a year—but even the simplest plan can go drastically awry when personalities clash and the past shows up at the worst time.

BONUS SELECTION

Title: Anger Is a Gift by Mark Oshiro
Publisher: Tor Teen
Genre: Contemporary, Young Adult, LGBT
Length: 464 pages

Summary:

Moss Jeffries is many things—considerate student, devoted son, loyal friend and affectionate boyfriend, enthusiastic nerd.

But sometimes Moss still wishes he could be someone else—someone without panic attacks, someone whose father was still alive, someone who hadn’t become a rallying point for a community because of one horrible night.

And most of all, he wishes he didn’t feel so stuck.

Moss can’t even escape at school—he and his friends are subject to the lack of funds and crumbling infrastructure at West Oakland High, as well as constant intimidation by the resource officer stationed in their halls. That was even before the new regulations—it seems sometimes that the students are treated more like criminals.

Something will have to change—but who will listen to a group of teens?

When tensions hit a fever pitch and tragedy strikes again, Moss must face a difficult choice: give in to fear and hate or realize that anger can actually be a gift.

  1. Purple Reader

Thanks for the bonus. I liked both Lavender and Anger, but I really appreciated the latter being YA and focusing on people of color. I want to support that in gay fiction.

I am like you-a big supporter of diversity in books and it is quite refreshing to see it in YA novels.

  2. H.B.

They all sounds so good and the YA selection was a nice surprise =)
