June Reading Challenge: Read a Historical Novel

June’s Reading Challenge is to read.. a Historical novel. Since novels set in the 1990s are considered historical, hopefully it won’t be too difficult to make a selection.

My first choice is Resistance Women by Jennifer Chiaverini which begins during the 1930s as Adolf Hitler is rising to power. The story follows Mildred Fish, her husband Arvid Harnack and several of their friends as they work to take down the Third Reich. The novel is based on true life events and I am very eager to begin reading what appears to be a riveting story.

My second selection is Whistle Pass by KevaD which takes place ten years after World War II. This story has its beginnings during World War II and a love affair that begins on the battlefields of Europe. Fast forward ten years and one of the lovers, Roger Black, has political aspirations and wants to ensure his romance remains hidden. I am very much looking forward to seeing what happens when Charlie Harris agrees to journey to Roger’s hometown. How will hotel manager Gabe Kasper help Charlie as he fights Roger and his troublesome wife?

I have quite a few historicals to read so will probably read a few in June but my main choice is The Greenwood and the Grail by Harper Fox – book 3 but over a year since I read bk 2 so may need a recap skim read. I have enjoyed this alternate Arthur retelling so far.
