October Reading Challenge: A Bestselling or Highly Rated Novel

October’s Reading Challenge is to read a bestselling, highly recommended or highly rated novel.

My first selection is Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens and it checks all the boxes for this month’s challenge. I will admit I had a hard time deciding whether or not I wanted to read this novel. I love a good literary mystery but I still had reservations about reading it (I think it’s Marsh Girl descriptor). But the high ratings and recommendations won me over. So, fingers crossed I made the right decision!

My next choice was a little tricky to figure out. I ended up reverting to searching Goodreads for an LGBT novel with high ratings. I discovered several candidates but once I stumbled across Autoboyography by Christina Lauren, I knew I had to read it! Two things really stood out to me as I read the synopsis: 1) it’s a young adult LGBT novel & 2) I love LGBT books with a protagonist who is Mormon. I am very much looking forward to reading it.

(If you need a recommendation-I loved Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz)

How do you feel about reading bestseller or highly rated novels?

Happy Reading!!

I think I’ll go with Thrown off the Ice by Taylor Fitzpatrick – high score on Goodreads, lots of positive reviews.
