February’s Reading Challenge is to read a novel with Red on the Cover or in the Title or Author’s Name.

Since Valentine’s Day is this month, I thought it would be fun to co-ordinate this month’s challenge with the holiday. But I didn’t want to go with the obvious (love, hearts, candy) so I thought about the COLORS associated with Valentine’s and voila! This month’s challenge came to life.

My first selection was really easy to pick-Crimson Lake by Candice Fox. I purchased the novel several months back but I decided to wait for paperback release of Redemption Point, the second installment in the Crimson Lake. I want to read them back to back so I’m looking forward to reading both of them this month.

Holy Moly, did I ever struggle to find an LGBT novel to read. My very unscientific observation is there are MANY more mainstream novels that fit this month’s challenge than there are in the LGBT world. Whew, I finally resorted to sorting through my TBR pile to find my selection.

While I did come up with a few for my “maybe” pile, I ultimately settled on Sweetwater by Lisa Henry. Whew, luckily for me, the title is written in red font or I’d still be scrolling! I love Lisa Henry’s novels but I decided to read Sweetwater since it’s a historical novel. I can’t wait to dive in!
