The Review:

Victoria Vane’s Devil in the Making is an amusing but poignant tale that provides fans of The Devil DeVere series with fascinating insight into Ludovic DeVere.

This short story begins with DeVere’s schoolboy prank with his close friends Ned Chambers (A Wild Night’s Bride) and Simon Singleton (Jewel of the East, release date 2/13). But it is the aftermath of their misadventure that reveals how DeVere’s dysfunctional family shaped him into the man that stole our hearts in all of the The Devil DeVere novellas.

This first installment of the Devilish Vignettes is a fast moving adventure that is as heartbreaking as it is fun. In Devil in the Making readers finally meet DeVere’s mother and father and learn the ugly truth surrounding their marriage and Ludovic’s childhood. We also see the kind-hearted, generous and honorable rake we grew to love in The Devil DeVere books.

Victoria Vane delivers yet another well researched story that is a fabulous mix of fact and fiction. Devil in the Making is a delightful peek into the early years of the infinitely charming and positively captivating Ludovic DeVere. Of course, it was also wonderful revisiting Ned and I am infinitely intrigued by the introduction of Simon “Sin” Singleton. I am eagerly awaiting their respective stories, Ned’s Folly and The Trouble with Sin.
