Summary:

Slayde’s got the best job on earth: he’s a nanny to Army nurse and widow Mindy’s three kids. He’s been with the family since the oldest was born and is Uncle Slayde to all three children. When Mindy’s deployed, things aren’t easy, but he manages just fine. At least he does until Mindy’s big brother Drake shows up unexpectedly, announcing he’s there to help while Mindy is gone.

Drake is almost a stranger to the kids, hot as hell, especially in his motorcycling leathers, and straighter than straight. On top of that, Drake’s not used to dealing with kids, with things like gluten free, recycling and not eating fast food and soon has Slayde’s tight routine in shambles.

Slayde thinks Drake is far more of a hindrance than a help, at least at the start, but he tries to get along for Mindy’s sake and eventually, having Drake around is easier than not. But what’s he supposed to do when the straight, sexy leather wearing ex-cop makes a pass at him one night? Maybe there’s more to Drake than Slayde assumed.

The Review:

Adorable kids + sexy men + unbelievably hot sex=one must read book for fans of Sean Michael! Mannies Incorporated is a sweet yet steamy romance that is incredibly heartwarming and just plain cute!

The characters in Mannies Incorporated are wonderfully developed and realistic. Slayde is extremely comfortable with both his sexuality and his chosen profession. He is unbelievably organized, the household runs like clockwork and the kids absolutely adore him.

On the other hand, Drake is deep, deep, deep in the closet and while he loves his nieces and nephew, he has not been a big part of their lives. His transition into the household is not exactly smooth, but he is determined to help out while his sister is deployed.

All of the secondary characters are likeable and add a great deal of depth to the storyline. Christian, Jenny and Maggie are delightful. They are typical kids and I just loved the interactions between them and Slayde and Drake. My heart just went out to Mindy and I could easily relate to how hard it was for her to separated from her children.

While for the most part, Drake and Slayde’s relationship is mostly conflict free, there are a few issues they must overcome before they find their happily ever after. As a cop, Drake keeps his sexuality hidden due to very real fears of how his co-workers will react to his homosexuality. Drake must also redefine his concept of family. He has a very difficult time reconciling Slayde’s and Slayde’s parents’ roles in Mindy’s and her children’s lives. All of their problems are handled quite well and they are resolved with very little angst.

While Mannie’s Incorporated is easy to read, there are a few editing errors. Some of the sentences are occasionally awkwardly phrased. Both characters seriously overuse the word “man” in place of saying one another’s names. Minor annoyances, but definitely noticeable.

Another wonderful romance from Sean Michael, Mannie’s Incorporated is a lighthearted romance that is quite entertaining. Definitely a must read for anyone who enjoys a family oriented love story.
