Elijah needed a fresh start after working in the dark world of pornography. Finding the strength to move away from drug abuse and his despised existence, he moves to Charlestown and discovers a connection with Jackson unlike anything before.
Fear of losing the one man he’s come to rely on keeps Elijah silent even as he grows determined to be a man worthy of Jackson’s love. When Elijah’s secrets are revealed, will Jackson be able to see past his former life and stand proudly beside the man Elijah is today?
The Review:
Angel’s Redemption by Andi Anderson is a sweet second chance at love May/December romance.
Still mourning his partner’s death, Jackson Edwards has been living a quiet life, going to work and hanging out with his friends. Even though Ben died four years earlier, Jackson has not had any interest in dating. That all changes when Elijah Patterson moves in next door.
Neither Jackson nor Elijah is looking for love when they become neighbors. Instead of acting on their attraction for one another, they form a close friendship and take the time to get to know one another before they become lovers. Both have issues from their pasts to overcome and their support for each other is unconditional.
The prologue reveals the depths of Elijah’s despair but overall, Angel’s Redemption is light and conflict free. Elijah reveals his painful past to an understanding Jackson and their romance is pretty smooth sailing. Characters from previous books in the Men of Charlestown series are supportive of the new relationship and they welcome Elijah into their close knit circle of friends.
Since Angel’s Redemption is told from both Elijah and Jackson’s perspectives, the reader has a fairly good understanding of what emotions the two men are experiencing. Of the two characters, I felt like I knew Jackson the best. We learn of his past relationship with Ben and we get a pretty clear idea of what is going on inside his head regarding his feelings for Elijah.
Through Elijah’s point of view, we discover his insecurities, fears and doubts. But we are left guessing as to how he finally escaped from his life as a porn star. I was unclear how much time passed from the ending of the prologue to Elijah moving in next door to Jackson. Elijah explained to Jackson how he ended up in the porn industry, but he never reveals how or when he got out of it.
Angel’s Redemption by Andi Anderson is a quick read with engaging and likeable characters. If you like your romances on the lighter side, then you will definitely enjoy this story.
