Summary:

When Jeff agreed to be the sperm donor to his best friend Beth, he never expected a tragedy to leave his newborn and three year old motherless. That’s exactly what’s happened, though, and it’s totally thrown his life into chaos: his lover has left him, his house isn’t anywhere near childproof and his boss feels the restaurant has been patient enough with the time off.

Donny has always known he wanted to be in childcare, and he just finished his degree in early childhood education. He didn’t count on people being less than thrilled to hire him when they find out that not only is he a male nanny, but a gay one at that. Job hunting has been frustrating to say the least, so when he knocks on Jeff’s door and is greeted by the sounds of things breaking and a pair of screaming children, he thinks, just maybe, he can begin this particular interview with a trial by fire.

Becoming the nanny to Jeff’s children just might be a dream come true for Danny, and exactly what Jeff needs, but are either one of them ready to really be a family?

The Review:

Sean Michael’s Daddy, Daddy and Me is a super cute story with plenty of “awww” moments. Donny is the miracle worker nanny who gets Jeff’s new life with his two kids on track. Once the pandemonium is under control, it does not take long for Donny and Jeff’s relationship to take a more romantic turn.

While both Jeff and Donny are extremely likable protagonists, their character development is a little under developed and two dimensional. Donny is fun, lighthearted and a whiz at managing Jeff’s house. He is fabulous with the kids and he is a natural fit for Jeff, but we do not see any other side to his character. He has no outside interests, and we do not see him in any setting other than with Jeff and the kids.

Jeff is equally likeable, and his character is a little more developed since he has some problems to overcome. He is grief stricken at Beth’s death and while he loves Robbie and Kimberly, he is woefully unprepared for full=time fatherhood. We learn more about his character through his relationships with his sister and Beth’s parents.

Robbie and Kimberly are absolutely, positively adorable, and they are definitely the heart and soul of Daddy, Daddy and Me. They are wonderfully depicted and fabulously imperfect. Just like real kids! Through temper tantrums, illnesses and perfect family outings, Jeff, Donny, Robbie and Kimmie slowly become a family.

Jeff and Donny’s transition from employer/employee to lovers is smooth and problem free. The sex scenes between Jeff and Donny are steamy, but they are also filled with tenderness and emotion. A subplot with Jeff’s ex-lover provides added tension and becomes the catalyst for some much needed changes in Jeff’s life.

Daddy, Daddy, and Me by Sean Michael is an engaging read with very little tension or angst. If you are a fan of m/m stories with children, then you are sure to love this fast paced and uncomplicated romance.
