Fire is best fought with fire… While DeVere is hell-bent to have her back for keeps, Diana is equally determined to bring him to his knees…by acquiring some sensual secrets of her own.

The Review:

The Devil’s Match by Victoria Vane is the highly anticipated romance between Baroness Diana Palmerston-Wriothesley and Viscount Ludovic “Devil” DeVere. Four years after their ill-fated but incredibly passionate affair, Diana and Ludovic are still fighting their scorching hot attraction for one another. Is there any chance this couple can get past their anger and bitterness and find their happily ever after?

Lady Diana has grown into a much stronger and more self-confident woman throughout the course of The Devil DeVere series. She has finally come into her own and she refuses to settle for empty sexual encounters. Wanting to see what is behind his public facade, she pushes and probes DeVere until he finally reveals all his secrets. Diana is his equal, both sexually and intellectually, and with Ludovic, she finally embraces her long-denied desires.

There are so many layers to Ludovic and up until now, we have just seen a select few. Ludovic plays by his own rules and he is an honorable man who is kind, compassionate and willing to make sacrifices to protect those he cares about. In The Devil’s Match, we learn about his painful past, and we finally understand what turned him into such a cynical, debauched libertine.

The Devil’s Match is my favorite novel in this fabulous series. Victoria Vane’s writing is superb and the plot flows seamlessly. Rich and meticulous attention to detail bring the Georgian era vibrantly to life. The characters are beautifully developed; flawed and imperfect, but always realistic and engaging.

An absolutely delightful addition to The Devil DeVere series that fans of historical romances are sure to love.

When dealing with the devil, it’s easy to be burned… When Diana discovers a secret that shatters the carefully built facade concealing her private pain, she seeks aid and comfort from the most unlikely place…the devil’s arms. But will a single night of heavenly passion damn them

The Review:

In the two previous installments of the The Devil DeVere series Victoria Vane tantalizes her readers with intriguing tidbits of the debauched yet very sexy Viscount Ludovic. In The Devil You Know, she exposes the softer and caring side of this unlikely matchmaker and provides a lot of insight into what makes the Viscount tick. Also revealed is the much hinted about relationship between Lady Diana and DeVere.

Ludovic DeVere is a charming and passionate lover. He is also a loyal and caring friend and brother. He can have any woman he wants, and his sights are now set on the lovely, but married Lady Diana. But Lady Diana stubbornly resists his advances and his attempts to tempt her into his bed.

Lady Diana’s marriage may not be a love match, but she is a faithful wife who has no intentions of breaking her wedding vows. Until she learns a horrible truth about her husband. Then she makes a deal with the Devil to secure her future.

But as we all know, there is no happy ending for this erstwhile couple. Murder, deceit and blackmail effectively end their relationship before it has really begun. However, their paths continue to cross and underneath the tension between them is a sizzling passion that continues to burn.

How will their seemingly ill-fated story end? The answer to that question will be answered in The Devil’s Match, Victoria Vane’s next installment in her wildly exciting Devil DeVere series.

Summary:

Desperate times call for devilish measures. When the object of one’s passion has eyes for another…it’s time to take matters in hand!

***
Lady Vesta Chambers is accustomed to getting what she wants… and what she wants is Captain Hewett DeVere…

Coddled and pampered since her mother’s death, Lady Vesta Chambers is beside herself when her father goes to London to prepare for her come-out and returns with a young bride of his own. With her world turned upside down, Vesta accompanies her godmother, Diana, to town where she is smitten the moment she lays eyes on a certain captain of the Seventeenth Light Dragoons.

But when the object of her passion has eyes for another…

Captain Hewett DeVere, younger brother and heir to Viscount Ludovic “The Devil” DeVere, has returned from the American war scarred, disillusioned, and looking forward to settling down to a quiet and respectable life. But when the handsome and straight-laced captain turns his eyes toward the widowed Diana, Vesta is prepared to take devilish measures to prove just how wrong he is.

And the Devil DeVere looks after his own…

Recruiting the aid of her godfather, Vesta vows to prove to Hew once and for all that she is no longer a little girl, but a woman with the passion of…a huntress.

The Review:

The second novella in Victoria Vane’s vastly entertaining Devil DeVere series, The Virgin Huntress is an energetic adventure between the spoiled yet charming Lady Vesta Chambers and staid but lovable Captain Hewett “Hew” DeVere.

Vesta falls in love with Hew at first sight. Hew does not reciprocate Vesta’s feelings. He is instead smitten with Vesta’s beautiful godmother Diana. But a girl as strong-minded as Vesta won’t let the dashing Captain slip through her fingers. With a whole lot of determination and a bit of help from her matchmaking godfather Viscount Ludovic “Devil” DeVere, there is no stopping Vesta as she pulls out all the stops on her quest for Hew’s heart.

Lady Vesta Chambers is an immature heroine and I must confess, I really did not like her for much of the book. Plotting, scheming, conniving, headstrong and spoiled rotten aptly describe the star of The Virgin Huntress. Despite her less than stellar traits, she could be quite charming when she wanted and she does possess a zest for life that is quite appealing.

As much as I disliked Vesta, I LOVED Captain Hew DeVere. The total opposite of his debauched and jaded older brother, he is a true gentleman. He is deeply loyal and there is a surprising amount of depth and substance to this kind-hearted man. I had a hard time believing Hew changed his mind about Vesta so quickly, but there is no mistaking the genuine passion between them.

The secondary cast of characters is absolutely delightful. I particularly liked Vesta’s maid, Polly. She is onto Vesta’s tricks and she does not hesitate to speak her mind. Pratt is also a wonderful character and I adore his interactions with all of the key players.

In The Virgin Huntress Ms. Vane provides readers a little more insight into the intriguing Viscount Ludovic “Devil” DeVere. Through teasing hints and tantalizing tidbits, we are left wondering about his mysterious relationship with the beautiful Baroness Diana Palmerston-Wriothesley.

I quite enjoyed the role reversal aspect of the plot. Instead of the typical determined man chasing the recalcitrant woman, Ms. Vane has Vesta cast in the role of the single-minded pursuer. While I could understand Vesta’s instant fascination with Hew, I found the love at first sight storyline to be a bit of a stretch of the imagination.

The Virgin Huntress is a fabulous addition to Victoria Vane’s rollicking Devil DeVere series. Intensely sensual, it is a fast paced and passionate adventure that fans of historical romances are going to love.

A Wild Night’s Bride, a sexy, rollicking Georgian romp!

The Review:

Brimming with humor and devilishly engaging characters, Victoria Vane’s A Wild Night’s Bride is a fast-paced historical romance that is delightfully steamy. Sir Edward “Ned” Chambers, Viscount Ludovic DeVere, and Pheobe Scott embark on a lusty wager that could get them beheaded if they are caught frolicking in the King of England’s bed.

A Wild Night’s Bride is a beautifully written novella with well-developed and entertaining characters. Phoebe Scott is an impoverished and struggling actress whose discovery she needs a benefactor to further her acting career leads her to the irrepressibly charming Viscount Ludovic DeVere and his grieving widower friend Sir Edward “Ned” Chambers. DeVere is a dissolute rake whose boredom leads him to agree to the madcap and completely insane bet to take a woman of pleasure in the King’s bed. But the plan goes awry when Ned cannot resist his attraction to the lovely Phoebe. Will the trio escape the King’s palace undetected?

Victoria Vane brings her readers another well-researched and amusing love story set in the Georgian period. The plot is unique and well-executed and the dialogue is witty and authentic. The sex scenes are erotic and sinfully sexy. Ms. Vane’s character development is flawless as she brings Phoebe, Ned and DeVere brilliantly to life.

The first installment in the Devil DeVere series, A Wild Night’s Bride is a sensual read that is sure to delight fans who enjoy love at first sight romances. The fabulous epilogue will leave readers eagerly anticipating the future books in this exciting new series.
