Review:

The Other Woman by Sandie Jones is an absolutely spellbinding domestic mystery.

Emily Havistock is not looking for love when she meets Adam Banks but she is soon all in with their surprising romance. Since their relationship is moving at a brisk pace, Adam introduces Emily to his mother, Pammie, just a few months after they begin dating. Emily is already nervous about meeting Pammie and as it turns out, she has good reason to be anxious. Emily is stunned by Pammie’s attempts to split them up, but she refuses to allow Adam’s mother to win.  Realizing any attempt to convince Adam of Pammie’s manipulations and vindictive behavior would never succeed, Emily continues planning her future with Adam.  Although she is on to Pammie’s tricks, Emily is still shocked by just how far the passive-aggressive sexagenarian will go to keep Adam all to herself.

Emily has a successful career but her love life is sorely lacking. Not one to easily trust, even she is surprised by how eagerly she throws herself into her new romance with Adam.  On paper, her new boyfriend is quite the catch. Handsome, successful and oozing with charm, Adam is every woman’s dream. Unfortunately he is saddled with an interfering, doting mother whom he believes can do no wrong. With every nasty comment and every vengeful trick Pammie plays, Emily becomes more and more determined not to let her destroy her relationship with Adam. But is Adam really worthy of Emily’s steadfast devotion?

The Other Woman is an addictive page-turner that is well-written with a fantastic storyline. Emily is an easy to like narrator but her resolve to stay with Adam no matter what is frustrating especially late in the story. Adam is quite alluring but Emily ignores many, many red flags that, when it comes to her boyfriend, appearances might just be deceiving. Pammie is the epitome of the evil mother-in-law and she is the character everyone is going to love to hate. Readers will remain on the edge of their seats as Sandie Jones brings this mesmerizing novel to a twist-filled, jaw-dropping conclusion. I HIGHLY recommend this suspense-laden debut to fans of the genre.
