Saturday Spotlight, Interview & Giveaway: Debra Kayn

Kathy: Today we are getting to author know Debra Kayn, another favorite author of me (I know, I know, I just CANNOT choose one favorite!). At the end of the interview, be sure and sign up for your chance to win a copy of the Melt My Heart anthology which includes Ms. Kayn’s newest biker story, Throwing Down His Colors.

Thanks so much for having me today, Kathy. I’m thrilled to share Throwing Down His Colors, just one of the stories in the anthology, Melt My Heart, published by Crimson Romance, with your readers today.

Kathy: You’re very welcome! We are so happy you decided to stop by and answer a few questions for us.

What book do you recommend everyone should read? Do you have a comfort read?

There’s one book that I go back and reread about once a year. It’s my all-time fav! Thorn Birds by Colleen McCullough. Then there’s the whole Montgomery series by Jude Deveraux…total escape into a world of manly men and strong women.

Kathy: What is your guilty pleasure?

Peanut m&m’s! No, I don’t eat them all the time or in hiding, and I definitely don’t have a bag hidden in my bottom drawer of my desk. I would say taking pictures. I’ve never taken a class or even tried to learn how to take good pictures. I just aim and shoot. But it’s getting away from everyone, going on long walks, and discovering places and things to take pictures of that’s a guilty pleasure. Even more so since we’ve moved to a new state in the Fall. Everything is new to me.

Kathy: Favorite meal?

Cheesecake isn’t a meal, so I’ll pick fried chicken and mash potatoes with chicken gravy. Oh, and heavy on the pepper.

Kathy: If you weren’t a writer, what would you be?

This is a hard one to answer, since I’m a mom and wife. I sort of like those jobs, but for this question I should say something glamorous and high paying. I do think it’d be cool to offer love advice. Maybe I’d be so good at it, I’d service the movie stars. Honestly, I’m just nosy, and like to hear about other people’s lives.

Kathy: If you could time travel, what time period would you visit?

The 50’s. 1950’s. I’d be the girl who rolled her jeans up under her skirts and at night I could be scandalous and wear pants. Time was slower, but yet technology was starting. I bet it would be a rockin’ good time. Geez, okay. It’s the men of that era. They were bossy. I’m a weak, weak woman for an alpha. Sigh.

Kathy: I can just picture you sneaking peanut M&Ms while furtively glancing over your shoulder 😉 I have enjoyed your pictures so that is one guilty pleasure I am glad you indulge in! Hmm, I don’t see anything wrong with cheesecake as a meal 😀 As a romance writer, I think you’re probably well qualified to give advice to the lovelorn. The time travel question is always so much fun to ask-if I could time travel, I’d never stay in the present since there are SO many eras I would love to visit. Thank you again for stopping by today and congratulations on the release of Throwing Down His Colors.
