November Reading Challenge: Read a Book Featuring an Ex-Con or Criminal Element

This month’s reading challenge is to read a book featuring an ex-con or a criminal element.

I accidentally stumbled on the idea for this month’s challenge as I was downloading my books from a publisher’s website. I tend to pick up books when they release even I don’t plan on reading the right away to it was fun to read the summaries as I downloaded them. I had a whole lot of “I HAVE to read this book” moments which helped sow the seeds for this month’s challenge.

My first choice is the first novel in the Time Served series, Time Served by Julianna Keyes. The lead characters are childhood friends from the wrong side of the tracks. However, while bad boy Dean Barclay somehow ended up prison, his teenage girlfriend left town and never looked back. Fast forward and she is a lawyer with a successful career and Dean is now an ex-con after serving an eight year sentence. And their worlds are about to collide. I can’t wait to see how this one plays out.

My second selection is the first novel in the Woodbury Boys series, Loose Cannon by Sidney Bell. This one also features childhood friends whose lives went in opposite directions. Edgar-Allen Church did time for assault and now out, he looks up his good friend (and crush) Miller Quinn. Church is comfortable with his sexuality whereas Quinn refuses to admit he might not be as straight as he believes. Their journey should be interesting and hopefully, emotional.

Hmm, I seem to read an awful lot of series!

Now it’s your turn to select a book for this month’s challenge. Will it be an ex-con? Or will you select a novel featuring a criminal element? Maybe both? We’ll check back in next month and see if you met your challenge and whether or not you enjoyed your selection!

Happy Reading!

If you participated in last month’s challenge, check out the discussion post HERE and let us know if you met your challenge!

I am going to go with Rick R Reed’s Perils of Intimacy – looks like one of the MC’s turned to crime to fund his meth addiction – if it it doesn’t fit, I’ll find another!!
