Summary:

Sex. Murder. Blackmail. Revenge. Life in the Big Easy can be a real bitch.

Meet Jon Fox, a sexy New Orleans private detective with more family secrets than even he knows about. But his latest case is about to bring more to the swampy surface than Fox himself could ever have guessed—

A polite old lady with a plot to murder a stranger;
A mother whose secret sent her insane;
An uncle with complete control over the family empire;
A father whose suicide might once again tear his family apart;
And a hot, handsome, clueless blond with a knack for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Yes, meet Jon Fox. A New Orleans private detective whose complicated life…just got a little more complex.

The Review:

Geoff Knight and Ethan Day’s To Catch a Fox is an intriguing mystery that is full of family secrets and an all star cast of characters. Set in The Big Easy, this delectably steamy romance is an action filled adventure that is sure to please mystery lovers.

Jon Fox has his share of flaws but he is an immensely appealing character. He is haunted by his family’s tragic past and he keeps an emotional distance from everyone. Jon is a successful private investigator who sometimes trades sex for information from his various contacts. His latest case finds him investigating Tucker Wilder and his attraction to the sexy screenwriter quickly complicates an already perplexing case.

Tucker Wilder’s personal life is just as messed up as Jon’s. Abandoned by his drug addicted mother, Tucker was raised by his no nonsense Aunt Millie. Returning to New Orleans after his career as a screenwriter fizzles, Tucker is reluctantly working as a waiter in his aunt’s restaurant while he works on his next screenplay.

The secondary cast of characters is rather quirky but highly entertaining. Jon’s mom, Savannah, fell apart following her husband’s suicide and suffers from dementia. Virgil, Jon’s dad’s best friend, is a cantankerous old coot who has his hands full keeping both Jon and Savannah out of trouble. Mason Willis is Jon’s uncle by marriage and he runs Fox Industries for Jon. Detective Rick Ford is Jon’s trusted contact on the New Orleans police force. This seemingly straight cop and Jon often trade sex for info. One of the neatest characters in the story is an unusual pet that comes to Jon’s rescue on more than one occasion.

While I enjoyed the overall story, the first half of the book is very slow moving and riddled with editing errors. However, the second half is moves much quicker with Jon and Tucker finally beginning to put the pieces of the puzzle together. There are still a few misspelled words but on the whole, the story flows much more smoothly.

The mystery aspect of To Catch a Fox is very well written and it has plenty of unexpected twists and turns. Closely guarded family secrets are revealed as the investigation unfolds. There is plenty of pulse pounding action as Jon and Tucker find themselves in some very perilous situations.

Despite a few flaws, To Catch a Fox is delightful first installment in what promises to be a fabulous series. The ending of the novel neatly sets the stage for the next book, and I am very curious to see what Geoff Knight and Ethan Day have planned for Jon and Tucker.

Summary:

Cain Elliott is a desperate man – on the brink of losing La Terraza, the 1920’s Spanish style courtyard apartment complex his grandmother left him in her will, he’s faced with the option of selling to a real estate developer or losing the building outright, due to the costs of upkeep that have now left him teetering on the brink of bankruptcy. One setback after another has slowly whittled away any hope he’d been harboring to turn the tides. Having time for little else in life, Cain’s guilt over his failure to protect the home of those who reside within the walls of La Terraza has crippled his spirit.

On the partnership fast-track at the flashy architectural firm of Hamilton-Bach, Henry Abrams is new in town, a little lonely and looking for inspiration. Tired of games and longing for something real, Henry discovers the road to happiness could lie in the arms of the sad, uncomplicated Cain Elliott.

Discovering that Hamilton-Bach represents the mysterious entrepreneur attempting to purchase La Terraza, combined with the self-doubt and mistrust over a love that develops too fast, leave both men struggling to decide whether or not they can truly find…Love in La Terraza.

The Review:

Love in La Terraza is a delightful romance that is funny, touching, sweet and deliciously sexy. An intensely hot and extremely passionate one night stand between Cain Elliot and Henry Abrams quickly turns into a deep and meaningful relationship.

Cain Elliot is a remarkable protagonist. He is so generous and kind-hearted that he is in danger of losing the apartment complex that has deep sentimental value to him. But that is what makes him such an appealing character. Cain is relentless in his quest to find a way to save La Terraza but even in the face of adversity he remains upbeat and positive. There is a hint of vulnerability to Cain regarding his relationship with Henry and he does not take their future together for granted.

Henry Abrams is the more dominant of the two men. He is career driven yet sensitive and caring. Henry fully appreciates the historical and architectural significance of La Terraza and he is frustrated when Cain rebuffs his offers to help him save his beloved building. Henry’s priorities shift when he is forced to choose between Cain and his job.

The tenants of La Terraza are quirky and more than just Cain’s tenants. They are quite close and many of them are his good friends. He puts their well-being ahead of his own and his love for them keeps him desperately searching for a way to save their homes.

La Terraza is more than just the setting of the story-it is its heart and soul. Mr. Day brings this incredible building to life with vivid descriptions of its appearance and construction. La Terraza has a presence and beauty that is lacking in modern construction and I was definitely rooting for Cain to devise a way to hold on to it.

I absolutely adored Cain and Henry as a couple. Their relationship builds slowly from their intense attraction to one another. Many of their scenes together are quite funny and their banter is absolutely hilarious. And their sex scenes? Burn up the sheets, set the eReader on fire and have a glass of ice water handy scorching HOT.

Love in La Terraza has all the basic elements of a terrific love story. Engaging protagonists, a believable storyline, just enough conflict to keep it interesting and an all star cast of secondary characters. Throw in Ethan Day’s trademark sense of humor and incredible talent, and you have a romance that should be on everyone’s to be read list.

It’s been fifteen years since they drifted apart and while a lot has since changed, they’ve discovered that some things still feel the same. While one calls it fate, the other dumb luck, second chances aren’t easy to come by. Putting the ignorance of youth and life’s baggage aside, they just might find that sometimes the best things really do come back to you.

The Review:

Anyone who enjoys second chance at love stories is sure to love Ethan Day’s newest novel. Second Time Lucky is a captivating novel with two incredibly scrumptious heroes who discover that love is even better the second time around.

A chance meeting in a bar sets the stage for this wickedly funny and scorching hot romance. Luke Landon is a charming character who at first glance, appears self-confident and happy with his carefree bachelor lifestyle. But, as is often the case, first impressions are deceiving. Luke’s vulnerabilities become evident when he is confronted by unresolved issues from his childhood.

Owen West is definitely more together emotionally than Luke. He is contemplating a major life and career change when he meets Luke again. The sexual chemistry that burned between fifteen years ago is hotter than ever and Owen finds he cannot walk away from Luke a second time.

The relationship between Owen and Luke is slow growing and spans several months. A long distance romance, the men meet as often as possible and slowly introduce one another to the important friends and family members in their lives. While their romance progresses with little conflict, there are definitely a few obstacles that must be overcome by both men before they find their happily ever after.

Sinfully sexy and laugh out loud funny, Second Time Lucky is a fast-moving and engrossing romance. The characters are fully fleshed and three dimensional and the issues facing them will resonate with readers. Ethan Day delivers yet another extraordinary novel that is sure to delight fans of contemporary romantic comedies.

Attempting to unravel the mystery behind the movie star, Zachary encountered an ancient relic shrouded in history and folklore, leading to a discovery so shocking it altered his very existence — challenging everything Zachary knew to be true — to believe that the impossible, was possible.

The Review:

Ethan Day’s A Token of Time is a spellbinding mystery with a love so powerful it defies time. While mourning the death of his best friend and lover, Nick, Zachary Hamilton receives an unexpected inheritance from movie star Marc Castle. The ancient necklace he receives reveals a shocking revelation and an eerie sense of déjà vu plagues Zachary when he moves into Marc’s estate. Will Zachary’s journey back to the glamorous days of Hollywood change his future? Or will it set in motion a chain of events that will destroy him and those he holds closest to his heart?

Although it is very different from Mr. Day’s previous works, A Token of Time is a brilliantly conceived novel with a creative storyline that is quite compelling. The cast of characters is outstanding and well developed with realistic flaws and charming imperfections. The story flows seamlessly through the different time periods and from the various characters’ points of views. The fifties Hollywood setting is particularly appealing and it provides an aura of innocence that adds to the magical quality of the novel.

With plenty of twists and turns, A Token of Time is an ingenious mix of mystery and the supernatural. It is also a beautiful love story that is highly romantic and extremely sensuous. Ethan Day brings this intriguing novel to a flawless ending that is absolutely perfect and highly satisfying.

A magnificent story that captures the imagination with its clever plot and enchanting characters, A Token of Time is a must read for anyone who enjoys a romance with a beguiling paranormal twist.
