The Review:

Margot’s Lawman, the third installment in Debra Kayn’s fabulous Sisters of McDougal Ranch series is a sweet, sexy and fun read. Keeping a secret is difficult to do in a small town, but Margot McDougal and Roy Lee Hanson have managed to keep their relationship under wraps for eleven months. Now that they have finally decided to reveal their romance, Margot and Roy Lee’s days of keeping secrets are over. Or are they?

As the oldest McDougal daughter Margot is used to being in complete control of her life and the world around her. She is a planner who sets her goals and works hard to achieve them. Like her other sisters, her Daddy’s death hit her hard and she is still struggling with the void his death has left in her life. Deeply in love with Roy Lee, Margot is forced to examine her motives for keeping their relationship a closely guarded secret.

As a close neighbor, Roy Lee has a longstanding friendship with the McDougal family. His love for Margot is strong and while he may not be happy about it, he is infinitely patient with her desire to keep their romance quiet. As the town sheriff, his instincts tell him there is something a little off about Ryan Martin, the veterinarian working for Margot.

What I really like most about Margot’s Lawman is the fact that Roy Lee and Margot already have an established relationship. There is no doubt they love one another but they do have some trust issues they need to work through. Ryan Martin’s role in their lives provides added conflict and acts as a catalyst for them to confront their issues.

As with Chantilly’s Cowboy (HERE) and Val’s Rancher (reviewed HERE), the close relationship between the sisters plays a key role in this family based series. The sisters continue to support one another in their relationships, and they provide encouragement for one another as they all continue to mourn Stuart McDougal’s death. Stuart’s loving presence is keenly felt as the sisters fall in love and begin to move on with their lives.

Margot’s Lawman a compelling story that is thoroughly engaging. The characters are well-developed and likeable and the romance between Margot and Roy Lee is heartwarming. Make room on your keeper shelf for another captivating installment in this fresh and charming series from Debra Kayn.

The Review:

Val’s Rancher is Debra Kayn’s is the delightful second installment of her Sisters of McDougal Ranch. As with Chantilly’s Cowboy (reviewed here), the McDougal sisters pull together as their daddy’s health worsens, and they offer Val their unwavering support as she tries to decide whether to risk her heart again when Sam Turner returns to Pike.

Val McDougal is a feisty and determined young woman who knows what she wants and is not afraid to go after it. As a teenager, she fell in love with Sam Turner and she single-mindedly pursued the handsome cowboy. He broke her heart when he left to join the rodeo circuit, but she picked up the pieces of her life and she now owns and operates a successful bar. Afraid to risk her heart, Val does not give in easily when Sam comes back into her life.

Sam Turner is not afraid to admit it when he makes a mistake. And he gladly acknowledges to Val that leaving her was the biggest mistake of his life. When Val does not welcome him back with open arms, this charming cowboy sets about proving his love to her with small and heartwarming gestures.

Val’s Rancher is a sexy romance that is fast paced and engaging. Val and Sam’s love for one another is strong, and Ms. Kayn brings them back together in a unique way that is realistic and oh so very sweet. The scenes with Val’s daddy and her sisters are poignant and touching so be sure and keep the tissues handy.

I absolutely love the Sisters of McDougal Ranch series. Debra Kayn leaves her readers (and this reviewer) eagerly awaiting Margot’s story, Margot’s Lawman, which releases in February 2012.

Jack Grady can understand Tilly’s frustrations over working with him, but he needs the job to put his nephew through law school. Besides, he’s made a promise to Stuart, and everyone knows a cowboy never goes back on his word. But when he finds himself falling for the boss’s daughter, Jack is torn between being honest with Tilly, and keeping her father’s secret.

The Review:

Chantilly’s Cowboy is a sexy and romantic love story that hits all the right spots. Debra Kayn effortlessly draws the reader into this first installment of the Sisters of McDougal Ranch series and leaves you eagerly awaiting the next sister’s story.

Chantilly Lace McDougal is dedicated to her sisters, the family ranch and her daddy. She is headstrong with a fiery personality. Chantilly is a fascinating blend of tough cowgirl and feminine woman that is undeniably appealing. She may be spitting mad that Jack Grady is the foreman on her ranch, but she cannot deny the attraction she has for the sexy cowboy.

Jack Grady is a steadfast and loyal man whose word is his bond. His less than happy childhood left an indelible mark on him, shaping him into the man he is today. He has a tiny bit of old-fashioned manners that is inherent in cowboys and it greatly adds to his charm. He may indulge Chantilly on occasion, but he knows when to stand his ground.

Chantilly’s Cowboy is a finely crafted and romantic book. Ms. Kayn’s writing style is descriptive and engaging, and the novel flows at an even and fast pace. Realistic and well written dialogue brings the story vividly to life.

The McDougal’s strong family bond is the heart and soul of Chantilly’s Cowboy. Jack and Chantilly are a wonderful couple, and watching them fall in love is an absolute delight. But it is the close and loving relationship between Chantilly, her sisters and their father that will steal your heart.

Debra Kayn’s Sisters of the McDougal Ranch promises to be a wild and crazy ride. I plan on being there for every second of it, and I hope you will too!
