March Reading Challenge: Read a Book Set in a Place or Time Period You Want to Visit

This month’s challenge is to read a book set in a place or time period you would like to visit.

For my first selection, I am going to read Amelia C. Gormely’s Saugatuck Summer. The setting is a beach house on Lake Michigan and since I went on lighthouse tour along Lake Michigan last summer, the idea of an actual vacation on the beach sounds DIVINE!

Now my next selection is a book set during a time period I would like to visit. There is a bit of a mystique surrounding the 1950s and while it seems like it would be a simpler time, the events taking place are definitely complicated. So I am going to read Elaine Hussey’s The Sweetest Hallelujah which takes place in 1955 and deals with race relations.

Now, it’s your turn. Leave a comment and let us know which book you are going to read this month. We’ll check back in next month and see if you met your challenge and whether or not you enjoyed your selection!

Happy Reading!

Lol. I live by Saugatuck and we go there frequently in the summer. My friend from Key West says it’s the closest to beach living she can get in Michigan. I am going to re red Pride and Prejudice by the great Jane Austen.

Lake Michigan is absolutely gorgeous. My friend and I are planning to go to Mackinac Island one year! I’ll be interested to hear what you think of Pride and Prejudice!
