Summary:

One Steamy Reunion
Back in college, Allie and her friends used to come up with the wildest stories. When a professor bequeaths his mansion to Allie and three other former students, it’s the chance they’ve all been looking for to get back together. But there’s more than friendship bubbling beneath the surface…

As secrets are revealed and relationships rekindled, the stories get dirtier and the stakes get higher. And now Allie’s realizes that she isn’t quite sure who she wants…fun-loving Wade or quiet, restrained Cameron. Neither has been honest about their feelings, and now they have the chance to act on all of the tales that ignite their most primal desires.

The Review:

Telling Tales is another scrumptiously steamy erotic novel by Charlotte Stein that I highly recommend to readers who like their romances on the naughty side. Voyeurism, threesomes, foursomes and a little D/s play-nothing is off limits as college friends Allie, Kitty, Cameron and Wade reunite and explore all of their sensual desires.

Throughout college, Allie, Kitty, Cam and Wade were close friends who entertained one another with their lusty tales. Allie kept her crush on Wade a closely guarded secret but she poured out her fantasies in her erotic stories. When the four meet again, Allie still desires Wade, but she finds herself captivated by quiet and unassuming Cameron. A startling encounter in the dead of night piques her curiosity and suddenly Allie is not sure which man she craves more…

Allie is the novel’s narrator so we experience firsthand her ambivalence about reuniting with her college pals. She is not very confident sexually and she is a little embarrassed about the stories she wrote years ago. Her conflicted feelings about Wade begin as soon as they meet again and although she is still drawn to him, it is Cam who catches her undivided attention. When the four renew their old hobby of reading sexually explicit stories aloud, the sexual tension between them quickly rises to a fever pitch.

Wade and Cam are at completely opposite ends of the spectrum and I loved watching them evolve throughout the story. Wade is not quite what Allie remembers or maybe it just a case of her crush clouding her perception of him. He is player-smooth and self-confident but arrogant when it comes to women. Cam is reserved and that saying about still waters running deep? Yeah, that aptly describes this gentle man. He is repressed and ashamed of his sexual fantasies but Allie pushes him way out of his comfort zone. Once she figures out what makes him tick, Cam is an enthusiastic participant in some pretty kinky but smoking hot sex scenes.

Their deepest, darkest fantasies are fully explored in sex scenes that are highly detailed and incredibly erotic. Dominant and submissive roles are fully explored and there is also a little bondage as well. While Kitty is an active participants in many of the scenes, there is only a brief amount of sexual interaction between her and Allie. However there is male/male penetration between Wade and Cam during the foursome scenes and while the women are also involved, one of them is usually a voyeur until they switch places.

Telling Tales is the second novel I have read by Charlotte Stein and while similar themes are explored in both, the storylines are quite distinct from one another. While the beginning of the novel is a bit uneven, I was quickly drawn into this fascinating story. It is a deeply sensual romance with depth and unexpected humor and although the romantic aspect is understated, there is never any doubt it is a love story in the making. Another outstanding novel by a true master in the erotic romance genre.

Summary:

Will she choose control or just let go?

When Madison Morris wanted to hire a shop assistant for her naughty little bookstore, she never dreamed she’d have two handsome men vying for the position—and a whole lot more. Does she choose dark and dangerous Andy with his sexy tattoos? Or quiet, serious Gabriel, whose lean physique and gentle touch tempt her more than she thought possible?

She loves the way Andy takes charge when it comes to sex. But the turmoil in Gabe’s eyes hints at a deep well of complicated emotions locked inside. When the fun and games are over, only one man can have control of her heart.

The Review:

Charlotte Stein’s Control is a delectably naughty erotic romance that hits all the right spots. Plenty of steamy, lust-filled sex scenes perfectly compliment the surprisingly emotional storyline and the resulting story is sizzling, funny and poignant. An absolute must read for readers who enjoy a novel that is not afraid to tread into forbidden sexual territory.

Bookstore owner Madison Morris is in a quandary about which applicant to hire as her assistant. Über sexy Andy Yarrow with the deliciously yummy tattoos and a penchant for taking control in the bedroom? Or shy, quiet, inhibited Gabriel with the tempting voyeuristic tendencies? No matter which man Madison chooses, her control is going to be sorely tested!

Madison is not afraid to take a walk on the sexual wild side and there is not a fantasy she is not willing to try. With the right man, she is more than willing to unleash her dominant side. But Madison is also comfortable taking the submissive role as well. She also likes some dirty talking-both as the talker and the listener. I think Madison is the perfect heroine because she is willing to do what we’d all like to do: embrace and explore our sexuality without limits.

Of the two heroes, Gabriel is the one who pretty much stole my heart. He is gentle, charming and sexually inexperienced with just the right amount of vulnerability. Madison’s dominance is something he craves and although he is embarrassed about some of his desires, he is up for just about anything she commands. But the most compelling scenes between these two are the ones where Gabriel reveals information about his past. Their emotional connection is just as strong as their sexual one but it takes them both a while to realize it.

Ah, I just love a bad boy and Andy fits that role perfectly. In real life he is pretty laidback but in the bedroom? He prefers calling the shots. Andy completely dominates Madison and he makes an intriguing third in Madison and Gabriel’s ménage explorations. He is a bit of a wanker (I just love that word!!!) but he manages to surprise me with his unexpected insight into Madison and Gabriel’s relationship.

The sex scenes are scorching hot and plentiful. Despite the dominant and submissive roles, it is not a BDSM novel and although there are a couple of ménages, it is not a true ménage either. It is a sexually adventurous book that defies categorization and I think that’s why I liked it so much.

Control is written in first person from Madison’s perspective. There is a stream of consciousness feel to her inner monologue but once I got used to it, I really enjoyed it. It is a little confusing for the first chapter but by the second chapter, the story flows very smoothly. The humor is well-timed and laugh out loud funny. The characters and overall plot have depth and substance and in between bouts of incendiary sex, a true romance develops. I think it is safe to say that Charlotte Stein is now on my auto-buy list and I have been eagerly purchasing her backlist!

Friday Feature: Cara Carnes’ Weekend Menage Blog Tour Stop, Interview, Review & Contest

Welcome to my blog tour stop for Cara Carnes’ Weekend Menage brought to you by Candlelight Book promotions. Today’s stop includes an interview with Cara Carnes, my review of Weekend Menage and a giveaway.

You can follow the rest of the tour HERE.

In your opinion, what makes a great hero?

Other than a kick-ass body and lethal prowess both in and out of the bedroom? I love when a hero gets dragged through hell and back and willing crawls back to do what needs to be done. Someone with the brains to challenge the heroine, the heart to take her anguish as his own and the grit to accept her as an equal—even though his alpha ego demands otherwise.

Do you prefer strong women for heroines, or the ‘damsel in distress’ type?

Since I tend to gravitate toward assertive, alpha makes, the heroine has to have the guts to stand up to him. I love strong women in situations where, for the first time in a long time, they have to rely on someone else for help. Those emotionally edged, precarious situations get me just about every time.

Do you have anything in common with your characters?

Hmm…I think every writer writes a piece of themselves into every work, even if they don’t realize it. IMHO you almost have to in order connect to them somehow in order the get any true emotional depth. If I can’t feel their pain or fear or heartache, then I haven’t done my job. And if the hero doesn’t make my heart race, how can I expect a reader to viscerally react and demand more?

What is one place in the world you’d love to visit which you haven’t already been?

My list of places to see is so long it’d be easier to tell you where I don’t want to go. I am desperate to see New Zealand. I’d do just about anything to get to Europe. And China. And Russia. Okay, you said one. I’ll go with New Zealand for now.

What are you currently working on, or what’s on the horizon?

*narrows eyes* Who told you to ask that? LOL…I shamefully have way too many coals on the fire and sometimes feel as though I can’t get anything finished. I have two different paranormal works, an erotic futuristic and two erotic contemporaries. Those are the ones I’ll confess to.:)

I tend to get easily distracted with plot bunnies as they go scampering through my head. So I pause what I’m working on to “scrawl” the idea down and three chapters later…Well, I think you can get the picture.

They all get done eventually. It’s just a battle for my attention until the end.

I can tell you the 5th Pleasure Brigade is in there at the top of the heap. And a turbo hot futuristic that I’m really enjoying a lot.

Summary:

Rebecca Ann Majors fled the temptation of a ménage once, but now the two sexy men starring in her wildest fantasy are back and demanding her complete surrender for the weekend. Emboldened by lust, she succumbs to her desire and learns ecstasy has a price.

They demand everything she has and more.

Joe Davenport and Dillan Morrisey are used to handling any situation—including the sexy siren who sashayed out of their lives two years ago. This time she’ll quench their lust, even if it means they have to share her.

When Sunday morning dawns, the three must decide if one weekend was enough to sate their shared passion.

The Review:

If you are looking for a short read that is smokin’ hot, then you will LOVE Weekend Ménage. Cara Carnes packs a whole lot of heat in this exquisitely erotic ménage between Rebecca Majors and the geeky but sinfully sexy Joe Davenport and Dillan Morrisey.

Rebecca Majors regretted her decision not to participate in a ménage with her brothers’ friends Joe and Dillan. But when she gets the chance to live out her fantasy a second time, she eagerly indulges in a passionate weekend with these two hotties.

Weekend Ménage is a quick read that mainly focuses on the sexual relationship between Rebecca, Joe and Dillan. The characters are well-fleshed and the previous connection between them makes the story more realistic. The sexual chemistry between them is positively sizzling and their sex scenes are highly detailed, varied and extremely sensuous. Their intense sexual attraction for one another provides the perfect foundation for a future relationship between them. While the ending is more of a beginning, it is still very satisfying.

While Weekend Ménage is the first Cara Carnes’ book I have read, it certainly won’t be my last.

Excerpt:

She flopped out of bed in a display of anger no one could see. Assuming they were still stuck on the mile-long stretch of hotels by the airport she’d have a good forty minutes to find pillows, blankets and sheets. The sofa supposedly made into a bed, but she doubted it was designed for normal humans to find comfortable.
Not. Her. Problem.

“I hope they don’t mind sharing a queen-sized foldout.”

Her brother chuckled. “They’ve shared smaller.”

Great. Now she’d have images of the two geeks mugging down because they were probably gay. “They here for the parade then?”

“What?” Her brother paused for a moment and then busted out with a fit of laughter. “They aren’t gay, sis.”

“Yeah. Sure.”

“You’ll see soon enough. But listen, seriously, I owe you big time for this.”

There he went getting all serious and shit just when she’d spiked her pissed meter to a good level. She padded into the living room and trudged to the small hallway closet.

“Just let me know if they give you a hard time and I’ll kick their asses. Somehow.”

“I think I can handle a couple of geeks.” He chuckled and a sense of unease settled into the back of her brain, waiting for the sleepy haze to clear. Something about that sound made her question her assumptions. Then his last word thundered through her. Somehow.

“Wait. Who’s coming over here, Andy? I know most of your friends. There aren’t that many you couldn’t knock six ways to Sunday.”

Two specific names rammed her defenses and shattered her into a puddle of wanton hope. Dear God, if they showed up here she’d jump them. Heaven help them both because she’d walked away from them once a couple of years ago.

A one-night stand with her brother’s friends wasn’t a good idea, and she never allowed a man more time with her than that. She’d learned her lesson a couple of times over. Give a man your heart and he’ll fillet it while you watch. Then leave you a dry husk of what you were.

Not that she was bitter. Or jaded.

Okay, she was both but she had good reason to be cautious and those two men had been way too tempting and determined.

They’d been drunk. The offer had become her most frequented sex dream. The what if I’d become the innocent in their sin sandwich?

She jumped when the doorbell sounded.

“That’s probably Joe and Dillan.”

Oh freaking mother of all that was screwed up. It was them.

Blog Tour, Guest Blog, Contest & Review: Zara Stoneley’s Riding High

Hi Kathy and thank you so much for letting me stop by again :).

I’ve got to admit, when I was young I was one of those horse mad girls who spent every moment I could at the local stables, and every other waking moment thinking about, reading about or drawing horses. When I grew up, the horses got slowly edged out by the boys, so I suppose it’s logical that I eventually got round to writing a book featuring both (and I’ve got more horses and a VERY hot farrier in my next story)!

To be honest, the horses don’t really feature much at all in this story. The riding stables is just a setting for a very hot, very erotic romance. Life in the countryside definitely heats up for Roisin after her cheating husband dies and a sexy asset stripper walks into her life – particularly as she’d let him strip her before she realised who he was!

I’m not sure if, put in Roisin’s situation, I would have had the guts to go along with Saul’s suggestion – which involves running a sex therapy centre alongside her equestrian business. But when the chips are down I think we can surprise ourselves at just what we are prepared to consider and hey, working alongside a hunk of a man who knows exactly how to please a lady can’t hurt can it?

If you’ve got time to leave a comment, I’d be interested to know where you’d draw the personal line if you had a crisis! I’ll send one person who comments a copy of Forfeit (pdf) or Freefalling (pdf or epub) – check out my blog for book details!

Excerpt:

Saul had never been into horses. Riding, yes; horses no. But right now, watching the slim, strong thighs squeezing firmly against the side of the black horse, he had a sudden desire to get into jodhpurs. Big time. He watched for a moment as the pair moved gracefully around the arena, the rider sitting perfectly upright, moving effortlessly in time with the horse. His gaze moved up to the small, perfect, bouncing breasts, the thick, red curls down her back, and suddenly the picture came together. It was the final piece of the jigsaw that sent a jolt of recognition straight through his body. Straight to his cock. Roisin.

She didn’t seem to notice him the first time she cantered past, but then she lost tempo for a moment and the next time round came to a perfect halt feet away, scattering rubber and sand over his feet. And she looked angry. Flushed and angry. That look sent another dart of longing straight to his groin, and it took considerable control to stop himself from dragging her down off that goddamned horse and shagging her right there and then in the dirt.

***

‘How did you find me?’ Roisin glared at him. Mind-blowing sex was one thing, but was it good or bad when your supposedly once in a lifetime one-night stand turns up again hours later? Though she couldn’t exactly say, “You’re my one and only one-night stand, now bugger off and stop spoiling things,” could she? Or could she?

He shrugged and looked almost apologetic. ‘I’m sorry, I know this sounds bad, but I didn’t find you. I, er, wasn’t looking for you.’

He didn’t really look sorry; he was grinning, and from where she stood it looked like his cock was straining at his zip as though expecting a repeat performance of last night. She felt the heat hit her cheeks, and forced her gaze back up to meet his.

He glanced down at the sheet of paper he was holding. ‘I’m actually looking for a Mrs Grant.’ The glance turned to a stare, his grin fading. ‘Mrs –’ he paused ‘– R Grant.’ The brown, hangdog eyes shot up to meet her dead on. ‘Shit, that’s you, isn’t it?’

Summary:

‘Have wild crazy monkey sex with the first man you bump into.’ Roisin Grant hadn’t intended to follow her best friend’s advice – but, sometimes, what you expect from life and what you get don’t match up. She never expected her husband would have a stash of home-made porn movies, with him in the starring role, or that he would die and leave her bankrupt. And she never expected to be faced with asset-stripper Saul Mathews and a choice. Walk away from her home and equestrian business, or call his bluff and help him deliver riding lessons of an altogether different kind.

An erotic novel with mixed themes including m/f, ménage, sex in public and voyeurism.

The Review:

Riding High by Zara Stoneley is a super sexy and highly erotic novella. It is a fast-paced story that will set your eReader on fire.

Roisin Grant and Saul Mathews have so much emotional baggage that there is little room for their burgeoning relationship. Roisin has serious trust issues in the wake of her husband’s death. Not only did he cheat on her and film himself doing it, but he also left her with a huge mountain of debt. A one night stand is very much out of character for her, but Roisin finds her attraction to the very attractive and tremendously sexy Saul impossible to resist.

No stranger to betrayal, Saul is still dealing with the aftereffects of his failed marriage. His divorce not only left emotional scars, but it also caused financial setbacks as well. Although Saul very rarely indulges in casual flings, his desire for Roisin is too powerful to ignore and they share one passionate night together.

But things get complicated for Saul and Roisin pretty quickly when they discover they share a business connection. Roisin is prickly and prone to jumping to conclusions. She is suspicious of Saul’s motives and she is incredibly indecisive. Saul is a pretty straight forward character but his past problems with his ex-wife do play a role in his relationship with Roisin. Adding further conflict to their already troubled relationship are the Daddy issues that neither Roisin and Saul have dealt with.

Riding High is a very exhausting read. Their sex life is wonderful, but outside the bed? Roisin and Saul are an absolute mess. Just when it appears they have resolved their differences, another one pops up. Their communication skills are abysmal and both of them are guilty of assuming the worst about the other. Their relationship was on again/off again so often that I wondered if they would ever figure out a way to stay together.

The sex scenes in Riding High are scorching hot, varied and frequent. The chemistry between Saul and Roisin is sizzling and their sex encounters reflect their intense attraction. There is little Saul and Roisin won’t try as they experiment with phone sex, masturbation, voyeurism and a little BDSM play. Saul and Roisin indulge in one-time M/F/M ménage that is positively incendiary.

Overall, Riding High is an enjoyable read. Zara Stoneley does a fabulous job keeping the ending realistic given the amount of conflict between them. I am very intrigued by one of the secondary characters, James, and I am crossing my fingers that there is a future book planned for him.

The Review:

Storm Bound by Alice Gaines is a sinfully sexy erotic romance. A luxurious resort and an exotic, isolated island are the perfect setting for this decadent threesome to act on their wicked desires. Their relationship heats up when Christie, Wolf and Jon indulge in an erotic ménage in the midst of a hurricane. But what will become of this explosive threesome when the storm has ended?

What begins as a short term affair quickly takes on deeper meaning for Christie, Jon and Wolf. While not a conventional happily ever after ending, this threesome comes up with a creative solution for their non-traditional relationship.

The Review:

Samantha Ann King’s debut novel Sharing Hailey is an erotic ménage romance that is sexy and sweet. Following her breakup with her abusive boyfriend, Daniel, Hailey Anderson is ready for a fun-filled two week vacation in Hawaii. Joining her and her brother, Jake, are her brother’s best friends and her longtime crushes, Mark Allen and Tony Adamo. When Mark and Tony propose a committed ménage, the threesome eagerly explores their new relationship.

The longstanding history and close friendship of Hailey, Mark and Tony provides an easy transition from friends to lovers. The sexual chemistry between the three is sizzling and their sex scenes are extremely sensual and quite erotic.

While the story is well written, there were a couple of things I struggled with. Given the fact that Hailey just ended a long term relationship and the ménage was just beginning, all three immediately proclaiming their love for one another felt premature. I understand there is a shared history between the three of them, but as soon as they had sex, the “I love yous” were exchanged.

I also did not like the fact that Hailey immediately (and repeatedly) considered herself a slut for having sex with two men. She also worried that her brother and strangers would think she was a slut for being in a relationship with two men. This part of the plot seemed pointless and rather immature.

What really worked for me was the domestic abuse part of the storyline. Ms. King does a brilliant job highlighting the fact that domestic violence takes many different shapes and forms. Rich or poor, educated or not, domestic abuse does not discriminate. ANYONE can be a victim. I thought Hailey’s reactions were realistic as she dealt with this part of her past.

All in all Sharing Hailey is an enjoyable read. It is a fast paced novel with an interesting storyline. I like Samantha Ann King’s writing style, and I will definitely read her future novels.
